At the moment I am thinking of doing my Fanfic on the Australian T.V programme: Home and Away. I will change some of the plot around from where the show is at now in New Zealand and give the show a new twist to it... What do you guys think about this?
@dyls, r-dog: Yes! Please guys lots of feedback would be great. Please write as much as you can. The more you criticize, comment, add and ask, the more I am able to form my ideas, and you guys can help me put my sometimes overboard ideas into perspective. In return, of course, I'll be happy to give heaps of feedback on anything you put together. Here is an example on a comment a gave to Audrey from fanfic four.
@ashleigh: Sounds interesting. To be honest I'm not a huge drama fan, but I've never really given it a chance. Putting Home and Away in New Zealand would change it alot I think, it seems to be very heavily based on Australian culture. Where in NZ whould you situate it? Urban or rural? ... oops, just re-read your post! I misunderstood the "where the show is at now in New Zealand", but I chose not to delete my post because that's an idea in itself. What do you think? ^_^ Anyway, you say a twist? What sort of twist? A dramatic one? What is going to change? What is going to stay the same? Why not start a new post and start getting your ideas out into the open. You don't need to think about it too much, just enough to start discussion on the blog!
Thanks for your feedback. Well as I am a very big fan of drama shows, i is easier for me to write my fanfiction about this as I can relate to it more... To your idea, it would be kewl to change the idea to be set in New Zealand but as you have said it would take too much culture away from the show as it is very aussie based. An as I like the show as it is already I don`t think it would be possible for me to change to be set in New Zealand without changing the whole culture of the show. But it is still a possibility I will consider as I am still in the idea process! A few ideas I have so far are: a character/s from the show somehow tragically dying, an old character from someones past comes back to the show and causing a lot of disturbance between the community, or one of the characters secrets is revealed in the Bay which causes a huge stir and many problems that have to be overcome... For now those are my main ideas but I will keep thinking over the next few days as to more ideas that I can include in my fanfiction.. There are many little things I can change within the show, but I want one main event that the whole story line will revolve around. What do you gus think about these ideas? Do you have any other ideas for me? What are the rest of your guys ideas for your fanfiction??
Heh heh, I got so carried away with changing everythng around I forgot that it`s possible to have everything in the canon universe! Actually some good things about using the canon universe is that you already have characters and settings and everything sorted out for you, so you can concenrate on actual writing! I am terrible at writing which is probably why I`m trying to hide that fact with an original idea. I suppose the best option is to work with what you are best at.
Anyway it sounds like you have story ideas for Africa. Why not start a new thread and post a few plot ideas under that? Just remember that even people who have never seen the series wil still have to understand who the characters are, so perhaps a litle intro at the start?
